Aashiq Abu is a Film Director/Producer/Actor/Distributor who works in the Malayalam industry. He made his directorial debut in 2009 with the movie ‘Daddy Cool”.
Before 2009, he was working as an assistant director with director Kamal for about five years.
He studied at SRV High School, Kochi and completed pre-degree and graduated from Maharajas College, Ernakulam
Maheshinte Prathikaaram, produced by Aashiq Abu’s production company OPM Dream Mill Cinemas won the National Award for ‘Best Feature Film in Malayalam’ and Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value.
Aashiq was born to C.M Abu and Jammela Abu. He married Malayalam Actress Rima Kallingal in 2013.
Aashiq Abu is part of the Kochi Music Foundation, which in 2019 conducted an event in the name of ‘Karuna’ to raise funds for Kerala Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF) for helping flood victims. But there was a delay in transferring the fund to the CMDRF which sparked a small controversy.
