Jayasurya made his acting debut as a background actor in 1999 for the film Pathram. His breakthrough role was playing a mute in Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan in the year 2002. He began his career as a mimicry artist and hosted a few television shows on Malayalam channels, over the last 2 decades, he has appeared in more than 100 films
He did his BComm at All Saints College, Ernakulam. Later he joined mimicry troupes Crown of Cochin and Kottayam Nazir's Cochin Discovery.
He won the Best Actor at Kerala State Film Awards twice. In 2018 for the films Captain and Njan Marykutty and again in 2021 for the film Vellam. He also won several Filmfare Awards South awards notably Best Actor (Malayalam) in 2015 and Best Supporting Actor (Malayalam) in 2014
Jayasurya's parents are Mani and Thankam. He is married to Saritha Jayasurya who is a costume designer. Saritha was his long-time girlfriend ( on 25 January 2004 ). The couple has two children Adwaith and Veda.
