Aparna made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Yathra Thudarunnu in 2013 at the age of 18. She made her Tamil debut in 8 Thottakkal in 2017. She has appeared in about 20 films so far. She is also a singer and has sung about 6 films so far for various movies.
Aparna is trained in Indian classical music and classical dance styles such as Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kuchipudi She completed her degree at the Global Institute of Architecture in Palakkad.
She won Asianet film award and Vanitha film award for best Best Debut actress for the movie “Maheshinte prathikaram”. She won JFW award for best actress in a lead role for the film “Soorarai pottru”.
Aparna was born to K. P. Balamurali (a famous music director in the South Indian film industry) and Sobha Balamurali (lawyer). She has a brother, Vishnu Balamurali ( an entrepreneur )
