Shalini, popularly known as Baby Shalini made her debut as a child artist at the age of three through the movie ‘Ente Mamattikuttiyammakku’ (1983). As a child artist, she has appeared in over 50 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada etc... She took a break from her acting career to focus on her studies and came back through the movie ‘Aniyathi Pravu’ in 1997. She was active in the industry till 2001, during which she acted in about 11 films.
She completed her education at Fatima Mat Higher Secondary School, Adarsh Vidyalaya, Chennai and Church Park Convent, Chennai.
She won the Kerala Film Award for Best Child Artist for the movie ‘Ente Mamattukuttiyammakku’ in the year 1983. She also won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for Best Actress for the movie ‘Alaipayuthey’ in the year 2000.
Shalini's fathers name is Babu and Mothers name is Alice. She has one sister Shamili (also a child actress )and one brother Richard Rishi (actor ). She married Tamil actor Ajith Kumar in 2000. The couple has two children, Anoushka and Aadvik.
Shalini’s father wanted to become a film actor and he migrated to Chennai from Kerala in search of film opportunities. He fulfilled his dream through his children later.
