Dr Azad Moopen

Azad Moopen is a healthcare entrepreneur, physician, and philanthropist. He is the founder of Aster DM Healthcare, a healthcare conglomerate in the Middle East and India founded in 1987

Dr Azad Moopen started his career In 1982, as a Medical Lecturer at Government Medical College, Kozhikode. In June 1987 he relocated to Dubai to do a short job with his friends.

Later in 1987, he started Aster DM Healthcare (Previously known as Al Raffa Clinic) a single doctor clinic in Dubai. Over the years, Aster DM Healthcare has grown into a global healthcare conglomerate of more than 323 facilities spread across nine countries.

The company is one of the largest integrated healthcare service providers in GCC and India.

Dr Azad Moopen is a gold medalist in MBBS and a Post Graduate in General Medicine from Government Medical College, Kozhikode in Kerala.

He is also a Diploma holder in Chest Diseases from Delhi University India.

In 2009 he was awarded the Best Doctor Award by the Government of Kerala.

He was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman in 2010 and Padma Shri in 2011 by the Government of India.

He was the son of Late. Mandayapurath Ahmed Unni Moopen ( a noble, freedom fighter and social leader ).

Dr Moopen is married to Nazeera Azad and has three daughters namely Alisha Moopen, Ziham Moopen and Zeba Moopen.

Moopen has pledged to give 20 per cent of his wealth to charity.
