Dr. Shashi Tharoor

Dr. Shashi Tharoor is a well-known figure in Indian politics, literature, and international diplomacy. He is currently serving his third term as Member of Parliament for the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in the Lok Sabha.

Prior to his career in politics, Dr. Tharoor spent nearly three decades working as a diplomat at the United Nations, where he held a variety of roles, including peacekeeper, refugee worker, and administrator at the highest levels. He served as Under-Secretary-General under Kofi Annan's leadership of the organization.

In addition to his political and diplomatic career, Dr. Tharoor is also a respected author, having written 19 books since 1981, many of which focus on India's history, culture, film, politics, society, and foreign policy.

Dr. Tharoor has been married three times. His first wife was Tilottama Mukherji, and together they have twin sons, Ishaan and Kanishk. Tharoor later married Canadian diplomat Christa Giles from 2007 to 2010. Following his second divorce, he married late businesswoman and philanthropist Smt. Sunanda P Tharoor (formerly Sunanda Pushkar) in 2010. She passed away in January 2014. They have one son together, Shiv

In addition to Malayalam, he is proficient in French, English, and Hindi.

He is particularly known for his mastery of the English language and his extensive vocabulary. In his book "Tharoorosaurus," he showcases fifty-three words from his vocabulary, highlighting his word skills.
