Dulquer Salman (DQ) made his acting debut in 2012 through the movie ‘Second show’ directed by Srinath Rajendran. Over this career, he has appeared in more than 30 films. He has also appeared in some films in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. In 2020 he started his own film production company, ‘Wayfarer films’. Over the years DQ has also sung over a dozen songs for different films.
Dulquer Salman completed his primary education from Toc H Public School, Vytilla and Secondary education from Sishya School, Chennai. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Purdue University, United States. He has also completed a three months acting course at Barry John Acting Studio, Mumbai.
He has won the Kerala State Film Award for the Best Actor in the year 2016 for his movie ‘Charlie’. Apart from that Dulquer Salman won several Film fare awards for Best Male Debut Actor, Best Actor, etc.
He is the second child of superstar Mammotty and his wife Sulfath. He is married to Amal Sufiya ( Chennai-based Architect ) and the couple has a daughter
When almost all the film producers were afraid of releasing their big-budget films when the theatres reopened after removing the restrictions due to Covid-19, Dulquer Salman’s Wayfarer Films came forward and decided to release the movie ‘Kurup’ in theatres. ‘Kurup’ has become a blockbuster hit. This has also given courage to a lot of producers to release their films in theatres instead of releasing them through OTT platforms.
