Innocent (Innocent Vareed Thekkethala)

Innocent (Innocent Vareed Thekkethala ) is an actor and politician. Innocent entered the film industry in 1972 with the movie Nrityashala. He has worked in more than 500 films. He is also a politician and member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He has served as the Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha of India representing the Chalakudy constituency. He has also an author and has written 4 books, columns in magazines and newspapers etc.

Innocent passed away on March 26, 2023, at VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi, Kerala, due to pneumonia complications after nearly three weeks of hospitalization.

He had his primary education from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda, and Sri Sangameswara NSS School, Irinjalakuda. He studied till eighth grade.

Innocent has won several awards, including three Kerala State Film Awards.

Innocent was born to Vareed Thekkethala and Margaret. He married Alice Thekkethala and they have a son Sonnet Thekkethala (Born 18 Feb). Both Innocent and his wife are cancer survivors.

Innocent's grandson Innocent Jr has acted in a documentary as Innocent in childhood.
