Jagathy Sreekumar made his acting debut in 1974 for the film Kanyakumari. Since then he appeared in more than 1500 films and was an essential part of the Malayalam film industry. He met with an unfortunate accident in 2012 and was hospitalized for a long time.
He is still on his way to a full recovery from that accident.
He completed his primary education from Model School in Trivandrum and graduated from Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum.
He has won five Kerala State Film Awards and several other awards including Kerala Film Critics Award, Filmfare Award, etc.
He was born to Jagathy N.K Achary and Prasanna Achary in Trivandrum. He has three siblings, Jameela, Sugadamma and Krishnakumar.
He married Mallika Sukumaran in 1974 and later divorced in 1976. In 1980, he married Shoba. The couple has two children, Rajkumar and Parvathy. Jagathy later revealed that he has a daughter, in a relationship with actress Kala.
