Kavya Madhavan made her debut as a child artist through the movie ‘Pookkaalam Varavaayi’ in 1991. It was in 1999 that she appeared in the lead role for the first time, in the movie ‘Chandranudhikkunna Dhikkil’. She has acted in more than 70 films and has won various awards.
She completed her schooling at Nileswaram Rajas High School.
She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress twice. First in 2004 for her movie ‘Perumazhakkalam’ and in 2010 for her movie ‘Gadhama’. She has also won various other awards like Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Actress and Filmfare Award for Best Malayalam Actress.
She was born to P. Madhavan and Shyamala in Kazargod. She has a brother, Midhun Madhavan. She married Nischal Chandra in 2009 but later divorced in 2011. She then married actor Dileep in 2016 and the couple has a daughter, Mahalakshmi born in 2018.
Kavya owns a premium clothing shop named Laksyah in Edappally, Ernakulam. She has written a book titled ‘Kathayil Alpam Kaavyam’ in which she shared her childhood memories and experiences from school days.
