Mohanlal

Mohanlal was born on May 21 1960, his full name is Mohanlal Viswanathan. His fans call him "Lalettan". He is one of the most versatile actors coming out of Kerala. He has been working in the movie industry since 1978 (over 4 decades) and has been part of over 340 films. He has played the leading role in all the top 5 highest-grossing Malayalam films.

Being a singer, Mohanlal has also formed a music band named Lalisom which has performed several sold-out shows over the years.

He has been bestowed several honours like Padma Shri (2001) Padma Bhushan (2019), The honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army (2008), Black Belt title in Taekwondo by World Taekwondo Headquarters (2012). He has also won numerous national and state awards for his performances in movies throughout his career.

Mohanlal is married to Suchitra, who is the daughter of the Tamil film producer K. Balaji. They have two children – Pranav Mohanlal (also an actor) and Vismaya Mohanlal.

Mohanlal was declared the wrestling champion of Kerala in 1977-78. Aishwarya Rai's first hero was Mohanlal in the movie iruvar.
He trained to be an escape artist under renowned magician Gopinath Muthukad.
