Nivin debuted in the film “Malarwadi Arts Club” produced by actor Dileep in 2009. This was Vineeth Sreenivasan's first directorial venture. Nivin was selected for one of the lead roles in the film. He has acted in about 35 films so far throughout his career.
He is an alumnus of Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery. Later he graduation from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) and earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering.
He has also won several awards, a Kerala state film award for best actor for the film Bangalore days. He received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor - Special Mention for his performance in “Moothon”. He also won the Best Actor award for the same film at the New York Indian Film Festival.
Nivin Pauly's father is Pauly Bonaventure and his mother is Thressamma. Actor Tovino Thomas is Nivin Pauly's cousin. On August 28, 2010, he married his college mate Rinna Joy. They have a son and a daughter.
The movie Premam was a commercial success with 600 million hits. The film was included in The Hindu's Top 25 Malayalam Movies of the Decade and eventually earned cult status.
