Renji Panicker

Renji Panicker is an actor, scriptwriter, director, and journalist.

He began his career as a journalist and a reporter for magazines and publications.

In 1990 he debuted as a screenwriter with the film Dr Pasupathy. He made his acting debut with the film Thalastaanam (1992) which he wrote. His directorial debut was in 2005 with the movie Bharatchandran IPS in 2005.

Since then he has written scripts for about 19 films and has acted in about 100 films. He has directed 2 films so far.

He is also one of the managing directors of the Malayalam newspaper MetroVaartha.

He did his bachelor's degree in commerce from Sanatana Dharma College, Alappuzha and certificate in Journalism from Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram.

He earned a master's degree in Journalism from Kerala University, Karyavattom.

He has won several awards, notably Kerala Film Critics Association Awards for Best Second Actor (Male) & South Indian International Movie Awards for Best Supporting Actor in 2017 for the film Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

He was the youngest son among three children born to Kesava Panicker and Leelamani Amma.

Renji Panicker was married to Aneeta Mariam Thomas. Aneeta died on 10 March 2019. They have twin sons, Nithin (Writer/Film Director) and Nikhil (Actor).

In 1990, director Shaji Kailas was impressed by Renji's language during an interview and asked him to do a script for him. The Shaji-Renji combination had produced several hits during the years.

At one time Renji Panicker was the most expensive script-writer in the Malayalam film industry.
