Resul Pookutty

Resul Pookutty is a famous sound engineer. He has worked in various film industries including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and English.

He debuted as a sound designer in the 1997 film "Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One." Since then, he has worked on the sound design for over 36 films. His recent notable works include "Pushpa" (2021) and "Aadujeevitham" (2024), among others.

In 2023, he made his directorial debut with the film "Otta," starring Asif Ali and Indrajith Sukumaran.

He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune in 1995.

Additionally, he completed his LLB at the Government Law College in Thiruvananthapuram and enrolled as an advocate in 2012.

Over a career spanning more than 20 years, he has received several awards.

The most prestigious of these is the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing (Oscar) for the film "Slumdog Millionaire," which he won in 2019 alongside Richard Pryke and Ian Tapp.

In 2010, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.

He was the youngest of eight children. He is married to Shadia Pookutty and they have 2 children.

After not getting a callback for a child actor role in "Ishtamaanu Pakshe" (1980), he was so upset that he didn't eat for three days.
