Sukumaran Nair is a film actor and producer of Malayalam films. He was considered one of the superstars of Malayalam cinema during the late 1970 - 80s.
Sukumaran started his acting career in 1973 with Nirmalyam. Over his lifetime he has appeared in more than 200 films. He has also produced 2 films.
In 16 June 1997, Sukumaran passed away from a massive heart attack.
He had his primary education from St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Pala and CMS Boys School, Thrissur.
He completed his master's degree in English literature from University College, Trivandrum. After his studies worked as a college lecturer.
He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the movie Bandhanam (1978).
Sukumaran is the eldest son of Parameshwaran Nair and Subhadra P Nair. He had two younger brothers and a sister.
Sukumaran married actress Mallika Sukumaran on 17 October 1978. They have two sons Indrajith Sukumaran and Prithviraj Sukumaran (Both actors).
