V. S. Achuthanandan (Velikkakathu Sankaran Achuthanandan)

V.S. Achuthanandan is a politician and member of the Communist Party of India - Marxist.

Achuthanandan was the 11th Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011. He was also a former 3 times Leader of the Opposition of Kerala state from 1992 to 1996, from 2001 to 2006 and from 2011 to 2016.

VS was the chief editor of the Deshabhimani daily, the journal of the state committee of the CPI (M) for seven years.

Achuthanandan's father's name is Venthalathara Sankaran and his Mother's name is Akkamma.

His wife's name is K. Vasumathy. They have 2 children, a Son - V. A. Arun Kumar and a Daughter - V.V. Asha.

He is the eldest communist leader in India, and the Founder leader of the CPIM ( he was seventeen years old at the time).
